Renovation of Pitched Roof with Storm Tiles

Are amarant-colored storm tiles a good choice?

To maintain the authentic style of this property, our client chose the Koramic Pottelberg Storm Tile 44 in the color amarant. The wavy shape of the roof tile is very characteristic of the Belgian roof landscape and can almost be considered part of our heritage, if it weren't for the fact that the roof tiles are still very popular. It is one of our most ordered roof tiles. These ceramic roof tiles are made in West Flanders. Pottelberg is located in Kortrijk.

Where lies the success? The price versus quality makes them very interesting. They are ideal for use in older buildings due to their lightweight and forgiving shape. This means you can visually straighten crooked roofs. They give a nice visual cachet. You have excellent protection against harsh weather conditions. The ridge captures the Belgian showers well. The color amarant gives the mineral look that fits so beautifully with the original style of the house.

PIR Insulation Boards

For the insulation, we chose PIR boards. PIR is a plastic that does not shrink, is moisture-resistant, and therefore even insulates better than glass wool. The lifespan is as long as that of your building itself. If you combine that with the fact that it is a top insulator, you have an extremely sustainable choice with PIR. Especially for spaces where more moisture is present or the insulation needs to be a bit thicker. If you want to get the most out of your PIR insulation, careful finishing is important. We are very aware of that and keep a close eye on it.

Be sure to read our tips on the blog: Installing roof insulation is a priority.

We removed the asbestos tiles from the dormer and also provided extra insulation here. The sealing of the gutters was replaced, and for the finishing, we used the well-known Rockpanel cladding. This cladding is low-maintenance, fire-safe, durable, and allows for creativity.

We installed 4 new Velux windows, for which we created a new opening for some. The dormer windows were finished with zinc. It has an excellent lifespan, is waterproof, and has a stylish industrial look, which gave a nice effect to the appearance of this building.
