Recently, we carried out an extensive roof renovation in Sint-Genesius-Rode for the Van Steenkiste family. This project included a series of complex tasks, from removing asbestos to installing a new roof window. Let's take a look at the details of this renovation.

Removal of Asbestos and Site Preparation

One of the first steps in this project was the safe removal of the existing asbestos roofing and underlayment.

This is a crucial task that must be carried out with the utmost care to ensure the safety of both our workers and the residents of the house. After this preparatory phase, we set up the site facilities, including the placement of scaffolding and a container for waste management.

Carpentry and Insulation

We clad the dormer with Rockpanel, a sustainable and aesthetic material chosen by the client to maintain the current structure of the dormer. We then insulated the dormer with 8cm PIR insulation. These steps ensure high energy efficiency and comfort in the house.

Installation of the New Roof Window

An important part of this renovation in Sint-Genesius-Rode was the installation of a new Velux roof window. This model, which tilts manually and is made from white-painted wood, offers both functionality and aesthetic value. We also installed a Velux roller shutter, contributing to the energy efficiency of the house.

Roof Covering and Finishing

For the roof covering, we chose Del Carmen natural slates. These materials are not only durable and weather-resistant but also give the roof an attractive, natural appearance. Finally, we reinstalled the existing gutter and inserted lead into the chimney, an essential step to make the roof watertight.
