How does moisture accumulation occur in and under your roof?
Moisture accumulation or condensation is water vapor that has settled on a surface that is colder than the surrounding area. When warm, humid air comes into contact with cold air, condensation occurs. Think, for example, of warm air that cools against cold window glass, or your mirror that fogs up when you take a hot shower.
Your roof is also such a point in the house where warm and cold air meet. Often, the top floor or attic space of a house is also a living area where people live and heat is used. The difference between the warm indoor temperature in the space under your roof and the outdoor temperature can cause condensation to form in and under your roof. Especially at freezing temperatures, serious damage can occur.
