Lose less heat

Heat rises and causes an energy loss of 30% if you do not have roof insulation. This results in unnecessary energy costs. By installing roof insulation, you can keep your home at a stable temperature for longer, thereby using much less energy. An investment in insulation means you will significantly save on your energy bill. The heat is retained longer, and the ambient temperature remains much more stable. Roof insulation keeps it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Reduce your ecological footprint

A well-insulated home not only provides significant savings but also a great environmental benefit. With lower gas consumption, you reduce the depletion of fossil fuels and the emission of greenhouse gases. Insulation certainly offers added value if you want to install solar panels. It is advisable to first invest in good roof insulation before installing solar panels, as it would be a shame to see generated solar energy go to waste due to a poorly insulated roof.

Your property increases in value

By properly insulating a home, you can also achieve a nice added value when selling your property. Significant savings can be made, especially in older homes. A poorly insulated house consumes an average of 2,200 m3 of gas per year to heat. In contrast, a well-insulated house only needs 700 m3 of gas, which quickly saves about 1,000 euros per year.

If you want to buy a house today, be sure to look at the EPC value. This represents the energy consumption per square meter in your home. The lower this score is, the lower your consumption will be. When you invest in insulation, you lower your EPC score and provide a great added value for your home.

Finally, do not only focus on the purchase price when making your choice. The additional cost for good insulation guarantees a longer lifespan.

Benefits of installing roof insulation summarized:

Lower energy bill

Good EPC score

Good E-level

Fewer moisture problems

Cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter

What is the most suitable insulation method?

Insulating a sloping roof is usually done from the outside. This is called the Sarking method. The insulation boards (PIR) are attached to the rafters using this method, instead of between the rafters as in a traditional roof. The advantage of this is that the interior finish does not need to be dismantled.

We perform insulation on the inside with mineral wool (glass wool). This insulation material is then attached between the carpentry.

For a flat roof, the insulation is placed on the vapor barrier from the outside.
