Cost-effective energy bill
In addition to a lot of extra natural light, skylights also have many other advantages. For example, they lead to a lower energy bill. How? The incoming sunlight in the kitchen or living room ensures that the indoor temperature rises a few degrees, so you don't need to turn the heating up as high. With the influx of a lot of natural light during the day, you also need less artificial light. If you turn on the lights in the house less often, you will naturally get a lower energy bill.
Skylight material
When considering installing a skylight on your flat roof, you need to determine what material the dome should be made of. There are skylights made of polycarbonate, acrylic, and also glass. These materials each have their properties and differences. Polycarbonate is a very strong material that is resistant to various weather conditions, burglary attempts, and more. An excellent choice, although it does come with a price tag. Domes made of acrylic are comparable to polycarbonate domes, although they are often slightly less sturdy and therefore cheaper. A glass roof dome is generally the least strong, even though it is often the most expensive option. The glass version looks very elegant compared to other materials.
Sizes and shapes
Skylights come in different sizes and shapes. Think of flat, curved, or domed material in square, rectangular, round, and other shapes. Regarding the color of your skylight, there are various options available. Clear glazing provides a transparent look and lets the most light through. If you choose opal glazing, it cannot be looked through. This provides more privacy. Additionally, opal glazing is more heat-resistant than clear glazing.
