All about My Renovation Premium: the insulation premium for your roof

In Flanders, there are quite a few different insulation premiums for your roof that you can apply for. In many cases, it is not possible to combine these subsidies. So you need to research what the best insulation premium is for your roof in Flanders.

In many cases, the most advantageous subsidy will be the Renovation Premium. This is a premium from the Flemish government that covers many possible renovations of your roof, including the installation of roof insulation.

When can you apply for this insulation premium for your roof?

There are two scenarios in which you can apply for this premium for roof insulation. We will briefly explain them here. 

Installation of new roof insulation: if you install new roof insulation in a building that is older than 15 years, you can apply for this insulation premium. Dural can assist you in choosing the right material to get the most out of your roof insulation budget.

Note: if you install the insulation yourself, you cannot use this premium. However, you can apply for a premium with Fluvius.

How much is this insulation premium?

The My Renovation Premium is generally the highest insulation premium for your roof that you can apply for. The maximum amount of the insulation premium is 5,750 euros. However, there are three factors that determine exactly how high this amount will be, namely the amount of your invoices, the type of building, and your income.

1. The amount of your invoices

The first factor is how high the invoices are for the installation of the roof insulation. You can apply for a premium starting from 1,000 euros in invoices and for a maximum of 11,500 euros in invoices. Anything below or above this does not qualify for this insulation premium.

2. The type of building

The type of building also affects the exact amount of the insulation premium you receive. Both a house and an apartment are buildings to which this insulation premium applies. Other buildings, such as a warehouse, do not fall under this subsidy.

3. Your income category

To make an accurate estimate of the amount of the insulation premium, you can use the simulator from the Flemish Government. 

Applying for the insulation premium: step-by-step plan

1. Check the application conditions

First, you need to check if the insulation you install meets the application conditions of the insulation premium. Specifically, you check if:

• Are you installing attic or roof insulation?
• Are you having this done by a contractor?
• Is your home 15 years or older?
• Have you not applied for another premium with Fluvius for your invoices?
• Is the roof insulated with an Rd-value of at least 4.5 m²K/W?

If the answer to all these questions is yes, you are generally eligible for the insulation premium.

2.  Collect the invoices and contractor's certificate

You can only apply for the insulation premium when you have invoices from a contractor for the installation of the roof insulation. The invoices must not have been used to apply for a premium with Fluvius.

The invoices for the application may be a maximum of 2 years old on the application date of the insulation premium. Additionally, the invoices must cumulatively amount to at least 1,000 euros to be eligible for the premium. The invoices you use can be both interim and final invoices.

Additionally, you must also add the contractor's certificate for the installation of the insulation.
